Governor Vacancies

Colden Common is a vibrant and exciting primary school with a broad curriculum. The most recent inspection has highlighted the many strengths of the school with a judgement of “Good” by Ofsted. We have a strong teaching and leadership team and a passionate and enthusiastic Governing Body. We are a school that is growing so now is a fantastic time to join our small team of Governors.

The Governing body are the strategic decision makers and vision setters in the school. We play a vital role in ensuring the best possible education for all children by creating robust accountability for school leaders. Crucially, that means using and being familiar with objective data on the performance of pupils, teachers and finances to ask the right questions and ensure resources are allocated to school priorities.

Being a Governor is hugely rewarding as we truly are making a difference to young people’s lives through education, learning and enrichment. We are all volunteers and we ask that as a Governor you are able to attend approximately two meetings every half term and have a commitment to working with the colleagues to help ensure we can provide the best possible outcomes for all children at our school.

We are looking for new Governors to join our team, preferably a mix of parents and non-parents. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with the following background / skills:

· Someone from the local business community; OR

· An individual who has a background in finance

You will have access to appropriate training as well as the support and guidance of your fellow Governors.

If you are interested in finding out more please email the Clerk to the Governing Body at and we can arrange for a member of the Governing Body to contact you for a chat.  The closing date for applications is Monday, 12th September 2022.
