Curriculum Statement

At Colden Common Primary School we pride ourselves in our broad and engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity in all children, building both their independent and collaborative skills and enables them to challenge themselves and build resilience.

We work hard to ensure that every element of the national curriculum is met through exciting topics that inspire children to look beyond their immediate breadth of experience and have the highest aspirations.

 

Our curriculum allows children of all backgrounds with diverse strengths and interests to flourish, and is supported by learning that takes them outside of the classroom to apply their learning in real-life contexts.

 

We pride ourselves in encouraging adventurous activity and risk-taking, and a wide range of trips and visitors to the school enhances the learning experience.

It is important to us that our curriculum has the flexibility to allow for following the interests of children as well as acknowledging and celebrating unique or remarkable local, global and historic events.

 

Through our curriculum we are aiming to equip our children for the next stage in their educational journey, and for life as adults.

All class teachers are responsible for providing a curriculum that is suitable for all pupils in the class, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with support from the SENCo. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND.
