We want children to experience learning in Science that inspires their curiosity to find out more about the world in which we live. We encourage hypothesis and investigation, trial and improvement so that children develop scientific and technical skills that will take them into secondary school and the world of work. Alongside this, they are encouraged to question and query, and then determine for themselves how best to answer their own questions, building on their disciplinary and substantive knowledge as they move through the school. We employ a wide range of experiential and factual learning strategies, which enable all children to confidently move on to the next stage in their learning in Science, understanding scientific phenomena in real-life contexts. Above all, we aim to foster a love of and enthusiasm for Science, as they are the scientists of the future.
