On Friday, Year 5/6 continued to explore the concept of rationing. Using only select ingredients, they were tasked with making a delicious vegetable pie or pasty.
It was quite hard to follow the recipe carefully whilst working with rationed portions - there was a particular shortage of butter for a while! The children were able to practise chopping and peeling a whole range of vegetables, and it was the first time some of them had made pastry. Some were more successful than others!
Luckily, everyone went home with a delicious vegetable pasty....unless temptation was given into and it was consumed at school!
